Blog Post Introduction: In this story “Redeployment” written by Phil Klay, as former marine troop who served seven months in the Iraqi war. he shares his experience about an event when Iraq war was declared to be launched by United states. He also mentions how they used to practice on dog-shaped targets. In addition he also says that it is not easy to kill people which clearly indicates that troops in the military are taught enough courage to do that. After the narrator returns to his house he still applies the same strategies which he learned during his training.
Re-Genre Analysis: As a result of getting vacations Sgt. Price traveled back to his house after a long time. He was feeling a bit awkward because his thinking skills were now modified with what he learned in the marine training session. He was able to recall his dog, Vicar, and its appearance. As a result of ageing the dog was having illnesses which he never had before such as throwing up on everyday basis. As a consequence the Price starts to get a sense of dislike for his own dog, Vicar. One day he decides to take his dog near a stream which was lonely for a quiet bit of time. He gets his dog in his car near that stream and walks around 3 to four meters away from the dog in order to prevent the slash of blood when he shoots it. Eventually, when he pulled out his rifle, he could see the emotions that the dog has been going through. Finally, after getting over all of his emotions he shoots the dog in burst fire. Burst fire is a technique in which three bullets are fired right on the chest for self defence, this technique is taught to each and every person who serves the country either military, navy, national guard or marine. The lungs of the dog starts to bleed inside filling his lungs completely from blood. His vision starts to get blurry, but he still struggle to look at his owner as all dogs are loyal and protective of their owners. After killing the dog when Sgt. Price returned home, her wife realized that he killed the dog. Out of her attachment with her dog she started weeping and recalling the amazing time when she spent with her dog. When she came to know that her dog died her bonding with her dog along with the memories grew much stronger. As a result, her husband apologise for what he had done by killing their own beloved pet dog. In my opinion Sgt. Price should have thought a little bit more before taking such a big step. However, he cannot be blamed completely because in marine and other forces which serves the country teach the troops to not think second time if they came across an enemy. According to what he learned I could guess how he approached to this decision. Finally after apologizing to her wife, who was not ready to listen a single excuse from him, he decides to join another mission couple of days after. He was unable to forget his dog and his memories he had with Vicar. His strong attachment with his dog made him visit the spot where he killed his dog and weep and search for it, but he was unable to. He seems strong physically, but emotionally he felt bad to what he had done with the beloved member of their family. In my opinion, he made a wrong decision because we are not allowed to take anyone's life for any reason. Even though whatever he was taught in his training he should have not killed the dog. Although, I don’t really like dogs but, however, they have feeling as well. Choices made by him were definitely wrong because later he regrets all he had done. An alternate ending: to such a story could be taken in a way that Sgt. Price should have left his dog in near that steam instead of killing it. In addition, even throwing a stone at any animal is considered as animal abuse. I don't know which category he will fall in. I took out my rifle and aimed at the dog, but out of my love I shot the bullet up in the sky instead of shooting at Vicar. I have lots of memories with him, ending them in just one shot would be a terrible idea. I left the dog near that stream and left that area in order to visit back some other day and recall them.

Really enjoyed reading that alternate ending. I liked where you made him go onto another mission few days after burning the memories with Vicar into his mind. That should be something he regrets for the rest of his life.
